Arrhythmia by definition is an irregular or abnormal heart beat. Sometimes it's too fast and other times it's too slow. Life acts similarly, coming in varied waves, often too busy or not busy enough. High or low, good or bad. Our magazine aims to build a network community of artists who believe in universal access to the arts and creative practices. We want to elevate the irregularity and the misunderstood, giving a platform to ideas & processes that exist outside the mainstream.

VOL.1

Arrhythmia Magazine began as a class project; a way to redefine & recontextualize the dynamic between photographer and model. Inspired by vintage Playboy magazines, the creators aimed to collaborate with the model,

letting the models express, perform, and display themselves however they saw fit, not the other way around (explicit content omitted). By setting ourselves a high goal to elevate this dynamic and to provide a platform for artists who submitted their own work, Arrhythmia is an experimental magazine built around community, ethics, and creative collaboration.

Arrhythmia Magazine Volume 2 is the continuation of what has evolved since the magazine was a student launched project. Initially parodying a magazine, the concept has transformed into a desire for students wanting to elevate their own work and the work of others through open calls & community sourced projects. Volume 2 explores the topic of "escape" - left up to the artists' interpretation on what escape is or what it means. Is it physical? Interpersonal? A universal state of being? The artists have responded to this question with their submissions below.  Please be sure to support all the artists in this volume!
